Curriculum Access for all classes

Weekly planning will be available for each year group on the Oak Academy and BBC bitesize. You can navigate to the right day for the year group where you will find a maths lesson, English lesson and two other lessons from the wider curriculum.

Phonics
In class we love Teach Your Monster To Read as a range of games to support your child’s phonics. Your child’s login should be in the front of their reading record but please get in touch if you cannot get on.

https://www.teachyourmonstertoread.com/

Phonics Hero are offering a free 7-day trial and if your child enjoys this website I can set up a free account for them for 30 days. I’ve just started using this in class, the games are fun and the few children that have used it seem to enjoy it.

I would recommend that a phonics activity is done each day. Either of these games, resources from the next page or a simple game such as eye-spy would be really beneficial.

Creative writing
In class we often use pictures as a stimulus for writing.   The writing can take the form of a shared write where we decide on the sentence together and I model writing it or the children may write a word or sentence about the picture independently.  We have even started to verbally create short stories about the pictures which we will be moving on to story mapping and then writing sentence to support. Here are a couple of great websites I use to find inspiring art work.

I would strongly recommend that children are encouraged to write each day be that a sentence, a shopping list, signs for a den they've made, a poster, a story or whatever they choose.  Please encourage and support their writing.

Story Time and Books
Oliver Jeffers will be reading a one of his stories live, every day at 6pm GMT, on his Instagram account.

https://www.instagram.com/oliverjeffers/?hl=en

Oliver Jeffers also has a lovely website with puzzles, colouring and craft activities for the children to do but they require printing.

Fancy a out of this world story time experience? How about having a story read to you by an astronaut in space!!! Listen to some lovely stories here;

Keep reading!  Keep if fun, encourage your child to read to you and please keep reading to them!

Maths
TopMarks offers a good selection of simple tablet-friendly games for children to support their maths.  Here are a few of our favourites but there are lots more on their website www.topmarks.co.uk

Try to keep maths practical and meaningful.  Cooking is a great time to incorporate maths with numbers, measuring and capacity elements.  There is also a great play-dough recipe using tablespoons on the next page. We had just begun to focus on counting in twos, this can be done whilst pairing socks or counting 2p coins.

If space travel or aeroplanes are topics that your child enjoys, they might like to take a virtual tour of the National Air and Space museum with you!

How about taking a look at some live web-cams of different animals? What can you see? Maybe you could find out about a type of animal that you have found interesting and make a little book or poster about them.  Where do they live, what do they eat, are humans harming their habitat?
