Sports Premium Funding

What is PE and Sport Premium?

The PE and Sport Premium funding must be spent on improving the provision of Physical Education and Sport for the benefit of pupils so that they develop healthy lifestyles.

At Harby C of E Primary School we believe that the inclusion of sport and physical activity is important in developing healthy lifestyle awareness.  There is a longstanding link between physical development and coordination and academic achievement, concentration and focus.  We believe that a healthy body and a healthy mind is essential and the PE and Sport Premium helps us to support this.

We are members of Inspire+, a local charity, that delivers a range of high quality, sustainable and motivational activities, lessons and sports with an aim of increasing engagement, enjoyment and long term health. We have had visits from Olympic and Paralympic athletes as well as explorers and adventurers.

Our action planning and spending of the PE and Sport Premium is directly aligned with delivering sustained improvements and impact across the DfE’s 5 Key Indicators:

Key Indicator 1: the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – the Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school

Key Indicator 2: the profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement

Key Indicator 3: increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport

Key Indicator 4: broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils

Key Indicator 5: increased participation in competitive sport

The documents below show how we have used our funding to meet these indicators.
