Route To Resilience
Welcome to our Route to Resilience page.
At Harby we believe in supporting the whole child and to do this we ensure that we are supporting their emotional wellbeing and metal health. Route to Resilience has helped us to implement a school-wide understanding of the character strengths children need to become life-long learners and happy, healthy children. Our staff team are helping your children to learn academic knowledge and skills, but they are also helping them to learn behaviours for their life beyond school. 04.10.2020 |
Route to Resilience
This year the school will be taking part in the Route to Resilience accreditation process. Route to Resilience is a process for supporting the development of children's character to support their academic progress and give them skills that they will use across all areas of their life.
We would like to thank everyone who took the time to reply to our letter about character, and the types of character strengths that you wanted your children to have; we had a great response! We have combined these ideas with the thoughts of the staff and have created a list of character strengths we will be actively encouraging children to develop in a wide variety of ways, both in and out of school. We hope you will join us by recognising and encouraging these strengths at home. We will be holding some parent events later in the academic year.
Before Christmas we started to introduce this to the children, with our first lesson in year 5 and 6. We were particularly impressed that this lesson inspired Hannah to build the Eiffel Tower using lolly-pop sticks and that she labelled the character strengths she needed around the top of the tower. Well done Hannah!
