Welcome

Welcome to Year One and Two and the Autumn Term. It has been a wonderful first week back, filled with lots of smiles, laughter and friendship. We have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming you all back into school and hearing all about your wonderful experiences, as well as hearing you talk with pride about your achievements.
This week we began by using the text 'The Colour Monster' by Anna Llenas.

Summer Term 2020

The children had a great first day back.  We decorated our name cards, did some Joe Wicks PE, played with the water channels, painted, made our own bubble wands and blew bubbles and ended the day with some MineCraft Cosmic Yoga!
Addendum as from June 2nd 2020
Curriculum Access for all classes

Weekly planning will be available for each year group on the Oak Academy and BBC bitesize. You can navigate to the right day for the year group where you will find a maths lesson, English lesson and two other lessons from the wider curriculum.

Whiterose maths video links will be still available.  At the start of each week we will email out the worksheets and answers directly to parents from the class email addresses. These will be zip files that will need saving on your computer and then extracting from the folder. If you have problems with this please contact the class email.

Spring term 2020

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Year One and Year Two, we are very excited to start the new Spring term!

Our class information -

Miss Boyle will teach on a Monday, Tuesday and the first part of a Wednesday morning.
Mrs Marsden will teach the second part of a Wednesday morning and afternoon and all day Thursday and Friday. Our classroom team is supported by Miss Taylor and Miss Jones.

We will have swimming for Y2 on a Monday and PE on a Tuesday, however we ask that you have a PE kit in school all week as we will capture other opportunities to carry out physical activity throughout the week.

We do not have a formal show and tell session however we do encourage children to share with us any of their personal achievements such as swimming certificates etc. They are welcome to share these by bringing them into school or by sending a photograph of them to the school office and we will share them as a class.

Children are welcome to bring in items that are related closely to our topics, however we do not encourage children to bring in any other personal items such as toys etc.

Over the next half term we will be reading with your child and arranging books and reading diaries with children. We encourage children, as part of our homework policy, to read as often as possible out loud, preferably daily. However we are mindful that sometimes this is not achievable due to busy lives and other interests after school. Therefore we ask that children read our loud to an adult at home at least three times a week. We are very grateful for your continued support with this.

This half term our topic will be the Great Fire of London. We are very excited to get started on this and we cannot wait to delve deeper with the children and their leaning.

As we begin our topic we will send out a learning letter with ideas for activities that can be carried out at home and information about the curriculum areas we are going to cover.

We hope that you find these letters helpful and as always please feel free to come and talk to us if you have any questions.

Many thanks,

Zoe Marsden and Louise Boyle
